Wiggly and I were discussing the idea of a ”Golden Oldies” version of Rock Band and we’d love it. Pounding away on the keyboard like Jerry Lee Lewis would pound away on (refraining from making lewd joke about underage female cousins) his piano would be ACES! We’re with you. I’m interested to know whether or not the game will actually teach you to play the keyboard or not, because if so, I may be interested. As for a plastic, candy button, saxophone or double bass; no thanks. I’ve got enough plastic shit in my house. If it isn’t going to operate as an actual instrument (like the MIDI keyboard), I’m not interested. However, I’m sure there are a lot of people who would eat it up and that’s cool, because it drives up my shares.

Yes, being able to go all Jerry Lee or Little Richard on that keyboard in rockband, and then switch over and duckwalk and geetar to some Chuck Berry would be awesome.
As for double bass and sex, i’m thinking they’d be cool if they made them like the new instruments rather than the old plastic toys.

Cool! I dig me some Rock Band. Although my new TV’s speakers aren’t really up to the challenge… there’s no bottom to it, it sounds too tinny. Anyone have any advice for how to get some bass for cheaps?

I could never do without a proper amp and surround sound system (do to being an audiophile as a musician) but, if you want some bass on the cheap, I’d recommend something like this http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/searchtools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=4815418&SRCCODE You might need some adapters from The Shack but, it will get the job done.

That is even cheaper than I was hoping! What kind of setup do you have? I have my guitar amp just sitting around collecting dust. Could I hook that to the tv somehow?

Wow, do not hook up a guitar amp unless you’re going through a direct box or other type of converter.
I have an older Yamaha RXV-992 receiver, Klipsch Center Speaker, Cerwin-Vega AT-15 front of house and Advent surround speaker. I have to do some finagling with a HDMI and RGB set of switching boxes routed directly to my TV while the audio goes to my receiver because my model of receiver only supports as high as S-Video Input (no big deal).

But, if you have smaller amounts of systems to hook up, Yamaha makes some receivers that are as low as $130, the speakers you hook up to it will make a difference though.
