I like playing Madden with three of my buddies; preferably the arcade machine version, but the console (PS3) is a lot fun too.

On a side-note, I really dislike the stigma around ”sports” games and the gamers who play them. There is absolutely nothing wrong with liking Madden, FIFA or MLB titles. Supposed ”hardcore gamers” like to claim there is, but these are the same people who get wet over any shit title from Japan just so they can stand on their soap box and tell the world how progressive they are. Games are about having fun. If you like sports titles, good for you,there are plenty to choose from! If you don’t like sports titles, good for you, there are plenty of other games to choose from. Fuck labels, have fun.

Once upon a time, I played almost exclusively sports titles. I still love to play them.

Nothing wrong with sport games, getting each year’s version isn’t my thing though. My favorite sports titles are always the slightly modified and enhanced versions of traditional games like 2020 Super Baseball, Street Hoop, Power Pros, Super Mario Strikers, Cyberball or Battle Sport. The traditional titles I still enjoy are the original Maddens for the Genesis or better yet, the 3DO version. I was really looking forward to Backbreaker but, I was very confused on gameplay in the demo, gimme 10 Yard Fight any day.

2k is only making NHL for the Wii this year. This means I’m stuck playing EA’s. Basically $60 for a roster update, a few bug fixes, and ultimate team.

Sigh.

Madden is not awesome. NCAA11 is. (imo)

But yeah. Ice Hockey > Blades Of Steel. It all comes down to that, really. (Hit The Ice isn’t even in the discussion)

to the extent that smackdown vs raw can be considered a sports game, i’m right there with you. main issue for me is that there aren’t really any sports i care about, which makes sports games an unlikely choice.
